[origin: EP0605824A1] The gun housing (1') forms an air passage open at both ends and contains a motor-driven fan (4), also a water nozzle (7) at the outlet end (3). This delivers the water into the air current (8) in a finely-divided state. Water flow is controlled by a valve (9) in the pipe (10) delivering the water to the nozzle under pressure. Valve operation is electrically or electronically controlled (11), and temperature sensors have their active portions in the path of the current. A system keeps the active portion of a first sensor permanently moist. The valve is controlled dependent on the actual temperature detected by one sensor, while also taking into account the difference between this temperature and that detected by the other sensor.
