[origin: EP0606034A1] The subject of the invention is a machine for grinding ophthalmic lenses, comprising one or more grinding wheels 1 mounted so that they can rotate about an axis 2 and which are driven by a motor 3, a rocker 4 mounted so that it can pivot with respect to an axis 7 parallel to the said axis 2 of the grinding wheels, and a vernier scale 13. The rocker comprises gripping means 8, 9 for holding and rotating a lens 10 about an axis 11 and the vernier scale 13 moves substantially along its longitudinal axis depending on the angular position of the gripping means 8, 9. According to the invention, a positive link is provided between the vernier scale 13 and the said rocker, the displacements of the vernier scale 13 thus determining the angular position of the rocker 4 with respect to the axis 7. <IMAGE>
