A casing (16) of the pole operating unit (5) contains two toggle levers (21, 22) of which one (21) is coupled to the pushrod (12) of the vacuum switching tube (10) and the other (22) to a supporting lever (25) which acts on a contact pressure spring (32) via a pull-rod (30). In the on position, the toggle levers (21, 22) are close to dead centre. An adjuster (40, 42) makes it possible to adjust the toggle levers (21, 22) in relation to the supporting lever (25).
