[origin: DE4131424C1] A bale opener and mixer for packed fiber bales (2) has a continuous bale supply on a conveyor arrangement (4) that supplies the packed fiber bales (2) to a stripping surface (6), and a rail-guided cutter head (10) that moves back and forth over the stripping surface (6). The transport plane of the conveyor arrangement (4) forms an angle to the stripping plane (8) of the stripping surface (6). A suction channel (12) carries away the stripped fiber flocks. The cutter head (10) is moveably, on one side, mounted on a single guide rail (14) along the conveyor arrangement (4) in a cantilever arm (11) that extends over the whole width of the conveyor arrangement (4).
