Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0606551A1] In order to be able to convey combustion material, in particular refuse, in combustion burners, use is made of rotating rollers (2) which are arranged at a spacing and form a conveyor grate. Arranged between the individual rollers (2) are blocking elements (9) which are intended to prevent combustion material from falling downwards through the rollers (2). The oxygen supply in the combustion chamber (1) takes place through gas passage openings (8) into the rollers (2), which are constructed as hollow rollers, so that as uniform as possible an application of oxygen to the combustion material is required and a high boiler efficiency is obtained. Since, however, there is necessarily a gap (13) present between the blocking elements (9) and the roller exteriors (12), a proportion of the combustion air is guided through this gap (13) because of the low flow resistance, and this is to be prevented on grounds of effective and uniform combustion. For this purpose, it is proposed to provide sealing elements (14) which seal off the interspace between the blocking elements (9) and the roller surfaces (12) with respect to the combustion chamber (1), and bear resiliently against the rollers (2). <IMAGE>
