[origin: EP0606625A2] The invention specifies a lining brick consisting of a clay or loam material. The brick exhibits a hole arrangement which is distributed uniformly over the horizontal cross-section of the brick and, being arranged in rows parallel to the wall alignment lines and being offset from row to row by half a hole division, has a cross-section which is largely uniformly hexagonal or is configured such that it is approximately uniformly hexagonal. In this arrangement, the invention provides that the brick, being arranged symmetrically to its centre line parallel to the inner wall alignment line and outer wall alignment line, exhibits at least one cross-sectional region having at least two rows, parallel to the centre line, of mutually offset, slot-shaped or elongate, rectangular, essentially identical hole arrangements in the form of channels which are parallel to the rest of the hole arrangement.
