[origin: EP0607069A1] The invention relates, in an engine comprising a cylinder block, in which a cylinder has a first (26) and second (28) cylindrical wall, the first wall (26) being further from the axis of rotation than the second wall (28) and having a transverse section greater than that of the second wall, to a piston including a first (31) and a second (33) piston body which are mounted in the first and second walls (26, 28), with which they delimit first and second chambers (35, 25), a seal (42) achieving sealing between the first body (31) and the first wall (26) and a means achieving a communication between the first and second chambers (35, 25). According to the invention, the communication means comprises a reduction (45) in the cross-section of the second body (33), extending to the radial periphery of the second body, between a transverse end section (39) of the second body, and the first body (31). One application is the production of a mechanically strong reliable engine, having a reduced retail cost. <IMAGE>
