[origin: WO9308551A1] A cordless digitizer system (10) is disclosed which comprises a digitizer tablet (11) and a cordless pointing device (12) which cooperate to provide to the tablet information relating not only to the position of the pointing device relative to the tablet, but also relative to the status of any switches (37, 38) on the pointing device. The pointing device (12) generates and radiates to the tablet (11) first and second signals (23, 24) of different frequencies. The first and second signals are radiated from the pointing device (12) at a third frequency (30) which contains information of the status of the switch. For example, one of the signals may be radiated relatively continuously or both of the signals may be alternatingly radiated at the third frequency in dependence upon the status of the switches. The first and second signals induce corresponding signals in the tablet which are processed to provide respective signals at the third frequency. These signals are then processed to obtain the status of the pointing device switches. Switch status information can also be binary encoded as a particular sequence of alternations of the first and second signals.

On décrit un système numériseur sans fil (10) qui comprend un numériseur (11) et un indicateur sans fil (12) qui coopèrent pour fournir au numériseur des informations relatives non seulement à la position de l'indicateur par rapport au numériseur, mais aussi par rapport à l'état de n'importe quel commutateur (37, 38) de l'indicateur. L'indicateur (12) génère et émet par rayonnement sur le numériseur (11) des premier et second signaux (23, 24) de différentes fréquences. Le premier et second signaux sont émis depuis l'indicateur (12) à une troisième fréquence (30) qui contient les informations sur l'état du commutateur. Par exemple, un des signaux peut être émis de façon relativement continue ou les deux signaux peuvent être émis en alternance à la troisième fréquence en fonction de l'état des commutateurs. Les premier et second signaux induisent dans le numériseur des signaux correspondants, qui sont traités pour produire des signaux respectifs à la troisième fréquence. Ces signaux sont ensuite traités pour obtenir l'état des commutateurs de l'indicateur. Les informationsur l'état des commutateurs peuvent aussi être codées en mode binaire comme une séquence particulière d'alternances des premier et second signaux.
