[origin: WO9308317A1] A composition for stabilizing inorganic peroxides and hydrogen peroxide in metal surface treating baths, including at least one activating agent chosen from cyclic or aromatic amine compounds, triazole, imidazole and carboxyimidazole derivatives and aliphatic amines. A method for treating metal surfaces with the composition having acidic pH and in the presence of inorganic peroxide, as well as the use of the composition to obtain a metal pickling, brightening or polishing bath, are also described.
