[origin: EP0609647A1] A renewal or cleaning apparatus (1) for a ballastway of a track (5) is equipped with an apparatus frame (7) which is supported on the track via rail running gears (6) and on which there are provided, between the rail running gears (6), a ballast-clearing device and a ballast-discharging device (20) arranged after the latter with respect to the working direction of the apparatus (1) and having a discharging end (23). A track-lifting unit (26), capable of rolling along the track (5) via flanged rollers (32), and also a track-tamping unit (27) having a height-adjustable, settable tamping pick (42) and intended for compacting the discharged ballast are arranged, in the working direction, behind the discharging end (23) of the ballast-discharging device (20) and fixed on a common supporting frame (31), and also designed so as to be adjustable together with the latter relative to the apparatus frame (7) in the apparatus longitudinal direction via a drive (39). <IMAGE>
