[origin: EP0609872A1] Method of depthwise soil consolidation, in particular for consolidating the subsoil of railway track bodies, in which soil material, in a roughly continuously advancing, in each case laterally supported trench, is excavated at the front end in the advancing direction to the width and depth of the soil area to be consolidated and is filled again roughly at the same time at its rear end lying at a short distance from the front end with suitable material for the consolidation while the measures required for the consolidation are carried out. For this purpose, at least a portion of the material used to fill the trench again originates from the preceding excavation in which it is prepared directly on the spot for the properties required to achieve predetermined consolidation, the preparation and re-filling taking place roughly continuously in synchronism with the accumulating excavated material. <IMAGE>
