[origin: WO9312340A1] Proposed is a method of regulating the closing time of the ignition coil in internal-combustion engine ignition systems with at least one microprocessor (1) designed to control at least one ignition-system output stage. The current in the ignition coil is measured and compared with a predetermined target value (Uv?). The microprocessor (1) also determines the time taken from the beginning of closure (T1) until the target value (Uv?) is reached or until closure is completed (T2) and, from these times (T1, T2, T3), defines the closing time (SZn) for the following ignition cycle.
