A safety device for passenger conveyors, in particular for escalators and moving pavements, is proposed, having at least one support plate (1) which contains comb segments (3) and is displaceable essentially horizontally relative to at least one support element (6) accommodating it and is pivotable about a horizontal rotation axis (20) outside the comb segments (3) and also interacts with at least one cut-off device (26) stopping the drive of the passenger conveyor. <IMAGE>

Vorgeschlagen wird eine Sicherheitseinrichtung für Personenförderanlagen, insbesondere für Rolltreppen und Rollsteige, mit mindestens einer Kammsegmente (3) beinhaltenden Trägerplatte (1), die relativ zu mindestens einem sie aufnehmenden Trägerelement (6) im wesentlichen horizontal verschiebbar und um eine horizontale Drehachse (20) außerhalb der Kammsegmente (3) schwenkbar ist, sowie mit mindestens einer den Antrieb der Personenförderanlage stillsetzenden Abschalteinrichtung (26) zusammenwirkt. <IMAGE>
