Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0452791A1] A press tool, in particular for joining tubular workpieces, has more than two arcuate pressure cheeks (136,137,142 to 145; 180 to 183), which can move relative to one another in such a way that they can be opened for positioning on the tube section and complement one another in the direction of the pressing end to form a closed pressing space, and at least one driving device for moving the pressure cheeks in the pressing direction. To ensure that the press tool is as simple as possible and hence easy to handle and economical to manufacture, it has at least one pressure cheek carrier (132, 133; 172, 173), in each of which at least two pressure cheeks (142 to 145; 180 to 183) are guided in such a way that their paths of motion in each case enclose an angle which is symmetrical to the central point of the pressing space in the closed condition of the press tool (121, 171) and opens towards this central point. <IMAGE>
