Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9211779A1] A shoe sole consists of a wooden upper part (1) and a sole surface (7) beneath it. In the region of the ball of the foot the upper sole section (1) is divided to provide several narrow strips (3) running across the length of the sole which are joined together and to the front and rear parts of the sole (4, 5) by flexible inserts (6). In an embodiment, a reinforcing layer (8) is secured firmly to the surface of the underside of the upper sole section (1) at least in the region of the strips (3). This reinforcing layer (8) advantageously consists of at least one layer of a wood veneer adhesively secured to the underside of the upper sole section (1).
