[origin: WO9318840A1] A self-supporting coated filter element for filtering dusts or aerosols out of the ambient air or suspended matter out of a liquid has a porous base body and a porous filtering layer applied on the face of the base body exposed to the contaminated ambient air or liquid. The base body is made of sintered plastics, the filtering layer is also composed of the same plastics and adhesively applied thereon. The plastic is polyethylene and the ratio between the average pore size of the microporous filtering layer and the average pore size of the macropores produced by sintering of the base body is comprised between 1:3 and 1:6.

Elément filtrant enduit autoporteur destiné à filtrer des poussières ou des aérosols contenus dans l'air ambiant ou des matières suspendues dans un liquide. Cet élément filtrant se compose d'une enveloppe poreuse, ainsi que d'une couche filtrante poreuse appliquée sur l'enveloppe, exposée à l'air ambiant ou au liquide. L'enveloppe est en matière plastique sintérisée, tout comme la couche filtrante d'ailleurs, qui est appliquée par adhérence sur l'enveloppe. En outre, la matière plastique est du polyéthylène et la grosseur de pores moyenne de la couche filtrante composée de micropores est dans un rapport 1/3 à 1/6 comparée à la grosseur de pores moyenne obtenue par la sintérisation des macropores de l'enveloppe.
