In a method for washing mattresses, the mattresses (6), lying flat, are introduced into a container (1) filled with liquid (2) and are dipped so deep into the liquid that the mattress rests on a base (3) and does not float, for the top side of the mattress is fulled and simultaneously subjected to liquid. Bei einem Verfahren zum Waschen von Matratzen werden die Matratzen (6) flach liegend in einen mit Flüssigkeit (2) gefüllten Behälter (1) eingebracht und so tief in die Flüssigkeit eingetaucht, daß die Matratze auf einer Unterlage (3) aufliegt und nicht aufschwimmt. Die Oberseite der Matratze wird gewalkt und gleichzeitig mit Flüssigkeit beaufschlagt. Eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens besteht aus einen wannenförmigen Behälter (1) zur Aufnahme der Flüssigkeit, einem in dem Behälter unterhalb des Flüssigkeitsspiegels angeordneten Umlaufförderer (3), einem mit Abstand über dem Flüssigkeitsspiegel (2a) angeordneten Flüssigkeitsaustritt (8), einer Pumpenanordnung (9) zum Fördern von Flüssigkeit aus dem Behälter zu dem Flüssigkeitsaustritt, und einer über dem Flüssigkeitsspiegel (2a) bewegbaren Walkwalze (7). Mehrere derartiger Vorrichtungen können baukastenartig zu einer Gesamtanlage zusammengesetzt werden. Die Vorrichtung kann auch als Einzelanlage betrieben werden. <IMAGE>
