[origin: DE4323220C1] An internal combustion engine with an intermediate shaft running parallel to the crankshaft has a pan arranged between the shafts, which carries lubricating oil shed by the crankgear into an oil sump. The said pan has projecting struts which surround the intermediate shaft so that the latter is protected against the ingress of lubricating oil from the crankgear. As a result, this oil passes into an oil reservoir largely without foaming.

Eine Brennkraftmaschine mit einer parallel zur Kurbelwelle (1) verlaufenden Zwischenwelle (2) weist eine zwischen den Wellen angeordnete Schale (8) auf, welche vom Kurbeltrieb abgegebenes Schmieröl in eine Ölwanne führt. Diese Schale (8) weist abragende Streben (11,12) auf, welche die Zwischenwelle (2) so umschließen, daß diese gegen den Zutritt von Schmieröl des Kurbeltriebes gesichert ist. Dieses gelangt dadurch weitgehend unverschäumt in einen Ölbehälter. <IMAGE>
