[origin: DE4223408A1] The laser printer mask transport includes a stepping motor (1) drives a drum (4) on shaft (3). On the drum (4) are a number of mounting hinges (11) carrying a spring mounted frame (9a) and print mask (9b). The mask is free to move in an arc of 180 degrees. The spring pressure acts in a clockwise direction. As the drum is rotated in a clockwise direction, the masks and associated frame press against stop (14). With further drum rotation each mask in turn moves through arc (10) to rest against stop (21), in the path of laser beam (18) to produce image (22). By driving the motor (1) appropriately using a memory, the selected mask is positioned between the laser and the print carrier. USE/ADVANTAGE - Fast and accurate positioning of laser print masks with low mechanical complexity in printer applications.
