Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2697328A1] The shell contains at least two smoke generating pots (7a, 7b) which are released by an ejector (15). The pots have axial channels (14a, 14b) which are aligned to form an ignition channel, with ignition provided by the ejector. The shell is equipped with a connector (18) which holds the two pots together temporarily during their trajectory and up to ejection. The connector comprises a cylindrical ring which penetrates the axial channel of each pot through holed in their covers (12a, 12b), and a collar which is held between the two pots. The ring can be made, for example, from a natural or synthetic polymer. In a shell designed to produce a cloud of smoke which is infrared opaque, the forward part of its casing can incorporate a chamber with a charge of dispersible powder which gives instantaneous infrared masking. USE/ADVANTAGE - Shell produces infrared opaque smokescreen. Smoke generating pots land only a short distance from one another, preventing gaps in screen.
