Abstract (en)
The workpiece (1) which has an axis of revolution (aa') is fastened into a rotary arbor (11) forming part of a tailstock (10) which can move in terms of translation on the bed of the grinding machine along a longitudinal axis (X) parallel to the axis of revolution (aa'). A support (16) integral with the bed and in the immediate vicinity of which a grinding wheel (18) is located, provides lateral support to part of the workpiece (1). The grinding of the workpiece (1) by the grinding wheel (18) over an arbitrary length which can exceed 1000 times its diameter, is obtained by moving the headstock (10) along the bed by this length in the direction of the longitudinal axis (X). <IMAGE>

La pièce à usiner (1), qui présente un axe de révolution (aa'), est fixée dans une broche rotative (11) faisant partie d'une poupée (10) mobile en translation sur le bâti de la machine à meuler suivant un axe longitudinal (X) parallèle à l'axe de révolution (aa'). Un support (16) solidaire du bâti et au voisinage immédiat duquel est disposée une meule (18), sert d'appui latéral à une partie de la pièce à usiner (1). Le meulage de la pièce (1) par la meule (18) sur une longueur arbitraire pouvant dépasser 1000 fois son diamètre, est obtenu en déplaçant la poupée (10) sur le bâti de cette longueur dans le sens de l'axe longitudinal (X). <IMAGE>
