[origin: EP0646657A1] A ferritic stainless steel which is excellent in oxidation resistance, toughness and hot workability, contains C, Si, Mm, Ni, Cr, Al, Ti and N as principal components and further at least one component selected from among Ca, Mg and Ba in an anmount in terms of [Ca] + [Mg] + 1/5 [Ba] of 0.001-0.20 %, La in an amount of 0.06-0.5 % and Ce in an amount of 0.002-0.050 %, and satisfies the relations represented by the following formulae: (1) [S] </= [Ca] + [Mg] + 1/5 [Ba]; (2) [La] / [Ce] >/= 10; (3) Ti >/= 48/12 [C] + 48/14 [N]. <IMAGE>
