[origin: EP0648865A1] Process for generating arsine by an electrolytic route from an electrochemical cell (12) in which are arranged a cathode (7) fed with H<+> and AsO2<-> ions, where two concurrent reactions take place producing arsine and gaseous hydrogen respectively, and an anode (3) where a reaction which is the source of H<+> ions takes place, the ratio of the concentrations H<+>/As at the cathode being controlled and kept constant.
