Abstract (en)
[origin: CA2139503A1] 2139503 9426314 PCTABScor01 The present invention relates to compounds having affinity for certain cancer cells, e.g. lung carcinomas, colon carcinomas, renal carcinomas, malignant melanomas, gliomas, neuroblastomas and pheochromocytomas. The compounds also bind with high specificity to cell surface sigma receptors and can therefore be used for diagnostic imaging of any tissue having an abundance of cells with sigma receptors. The compounds are of general formula (I) wherein X is a radionuclide; R2 is -N(R3)2 or a 5 to 6 member nitrogen containing heterocyclic ring, optionally substituted with at least one alkyl group; the remaining variables are defined on page 5 of the disclosure. Methods are provided for diagnostic imaging and for the detection and treatment of tumors containing the cancer cells described above.
