[origin: WO9403631A1] Methods, test kits, and an apparatus for detecting analytes among closely related substances by reacting the analyte in a test sample with a labeled binding agent which specifically binds to the analyte to form a complex are disclosed. The complex and labeled binding agent are isolated on a separation medium and identified by differential rate of migration. A second labeled marker which migrates independently of the labeled binding agent and complex, preferably at or near the solvent front provides a quality control check for the assay.
