[origin: EP0654644A1] In a process for firing ceramics or the like in a periodically operating kiln, the firing shelves (13) which receive the ware to be fired are assembled on a ramp located in front of the kiln (1) to form a firing charge. The introduction of this firing charge into the firing chamber (1a) is effected by means of a mobile hearth bogie (8) having a height-adjustable upper part (10) in a single working step, the firing chamber (1a) of the kiln (1) being closed directly after the introduction by lowering the upper part (10) of the hearth bogie (8). <IMAGE>
