Abstract (en)

[origin: CA2140860A1] The invention concerns the technical field of water craft, especially the corresponding equipment, and describes an arrangement and method for the emergency emptying oftankers in accident situations whereby openings in the side of the ship and hoseconnections are provided in such a way that coiled, double walled flexible hoses with handling ropes, hose drive devices with an independent energy source and an air bag device are disposed between the side of the ship and the tanks. Hatch covers that can be detached by explosive force after an accident are provided at these points. After the side of the ship has been opened in this way, the hoses are set in motion towards the open sea in the manner of a torpedo, and their ends and the handling ropes are carried to the water surface by an air bag function, from where they are easy to take up and connect to tanks. All necessary commands are executed under remote wireless control. The cargo of the tanker is evacuated mainly by compressed air via the double walled hoses.
