Bei einem Falzapparat soll sichergestellt werden, daß zur Transportrichtung parallel verlaufende Außenkanten der Signaturen variierbarer Breite ausreichend von Transportbändern (41;42;43;44;45;46) eines Bandleitsystems überdeckt werden, damit beim Nachgreifen der auf dem Sammelzylinder (16) angeordneten Greifer (17) die vorderen Enden der Signaturen beschädigungsfrei bleiben. Dieses geschieht dadurch, daß der in Signaturen teilbare Papierbahnstrang (6) in axialer Richtung des Sammelzylinders um zumindest eine Bandbreite verschiebbar ist. Dabei ist eine Breite der Transportbänder (b) gleich oder größer als eine Lücke (i) zwischen den Bändern. <IMAGE>
