[origin: EP0660343A1] High-voltage transformers, in particular for space applications, must comply with special requirements. Their windings (W1, W2) are potted in an insulating compound (IM) for protection against flashovers. In order to avoid in particular glow discharges in critical pressure ranges, that end (1) of the secondary winding (W2) which has little load in terms of the DC potential is designed (SI) to be screened, and this screen (SI) is connected to the potential of that connection end (2) which is loaded more highly in terms of the DC potential. The last winding layer of the secondary winding (W2) then itself acts as a screen. The electrical load on the insulation is minimal, in particular in the critical pressure range (Paschen minimum). <IMAGE>
