[origin: EP0660484A2] An electronic rapid contactor disconnection device having a freewheeling circuit which can be turned off and having a transient-voltage suppression diode (7) with a defined breakdown voltage for limiting the inductive voltage spikes on turning off the load circuit and the freewheeling circuit prevents voltage spikes being produced in that the switching transistor (3) of the freewheeling circuit and the power transistor (5) together with the contactor coil (1) are connected in series and are jointly connected in parallel with the voltage suppression diode (7), and in that the freewheeling diode (2) is arranged in the freewheeling circuit between the output of the switching transistor (3) and the input of the contactor coil (1). <IMAGE>
