[origin: EP0660644A2] The invention relates to a tubular heater which comprises a jacket pipe (casing pipe) (12), a heating filament (14) which is embedded in an insulating material (16) in the jacket pipe (12), and connection elements (18, 22) which are arranged at the ends of the heating filament (14) and by means of which the heating filament (14) is connected to a power source (current source). Provision is furthermore made for at least one temperature sensor (32) to be inserted, in the region of at least one connection element (18, 22), in the jacket pipe (12) at a spacing from the connection element (18, 22), which temperature sensor (32) is placed in the immediate vicinity of the inside wall (12a) of the jacket pipe (12). <IMAGE>
