[origin: WO9407255A1] A safety switch (1) has a switching rocker (17) for switching it on and off that forms a two-armed lever and is swivellingly mounted on a base (16). The base (16) is surrounded by a housing (2, 3) in a contact-safe manner. On the actuating side of the safety switch (1) is arranged a lid (3) for covering the switching rocker (17). An opening is arranged within the lid (3) to receive a slip-on part which extends through the opening and exerts a pressure on one arm of the lever of the switching rocker (17). In one of both switching positions, the slip-on part projects on the side of said arm of the lever further out of the opening of the housing than in the other switching position, indicating the switching state of the safety switch (1). The slip-on part may selectively be a switch-button (9) movably linked to an arm of the lever of the switching rocker (17) or a switching hood (41) fixedly connected to both arms of the lever.
