Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von Restmüll, bei welchem die Leichtfraktion durch thermische Verfahren umgesetzt und die Schwerfraktion einem biologischen Rotte- oder Vergärungsprozeß unterworfen wird, wobei das von dem biologischen Rotte- oder Vergärungsprozeß kommende Material der Schwerfraktion einer Glühbehandlung, vorzugsweise bei einer Temperatur von etwa 1600°C, unterworfen wird. <IMAGE>
