[origin: WO9502978A1] An eiderdown (1) is subdivided in the longitudinal direction into mutually separated strips (2). The individual strips (2) are 60 to 120 centimetres large, so that only two strips (2) are required to form an eiderdown (1). Each strip (2) is formed of several interconnected sections (12, 13) more or less thickly filled. There are thin sections (13) which contain little insulating material and thick sections (12), the so called heat islands, which contain much insulating material. By designing heat islands (12) of different shapes and positions in the strips (2), eiderdowns (1) having various insulation properties may be obtained.
