Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0662355A1] The painting process includes application of the paint coating as normal on to the vehicle surface - which may be ferrous, non-ferrous, plastic or composite. Before reticulation of the paint, the surface is treated with ultrasound radiation. The paint is then subject to the normal processes to accelerate and complete the coating. The irradiation is achieved with a number of ultrasound transducers (6-10) surrounding the object to be painted. They include supports which allow them to be moved in a direction perpendicular to the vehicle surface. The transducers define a band of irradiation about the vehicle which may then be moved relative to the transducer assembly.
