[origin: EP0662574A1] A controlled hydrostatic drive for a crane has a hydraulic pump driven by a squirrel cage induction motor. The pump feeds a hydraulic cylinder in a closed circuit. The motor is controlled through a frequency converter, operating between the frequencies of five and a hundred Hz. The drive to propel the crane along rails, to raise the jib, to rotate it, and for auxiliary motions all are derived from the same motor.
