[origin: EP0662650A2] The device measures small time intervals. A number of input pulses of equal duration are used by a microprocessor (11), a control circuit (1 to 7), register for the input pulses and measure device for them. The register has a summer (6) and an input pulse counter (8). It determines the minimum number of pulses needed to form a certain registered time width that just exceeds a predetermined interval in the summer. The measurer has an oscillator (2) with a scanning pulse counter (9) and a time-extender. It multiplies the registered time width by an extension factor to give a scan time. The microprocessor evaluates the time interval from the ratio of scan time to the product of the minimum number of pulses and extension factor.
