[origin: EP0663515A1] The thrust rod (1) with a ball-shaped end bearing component (13) is hydraulically located in a cup (7) accommodating the swing lever (2). The cup has a feed channel (16) for hydraulic oil connected to the engine lubricating oil circuit. The bearing component consists of a ball which is supported in a ball bowl, which runs out into a cylindrical bore (26). Alternatively the bearing component may be a piston which is held in a cylindrical bore of the swing lever. The feed channel issues in the centre of the ball bowl and consists of a bore with relatively small dia. It has a check valve (17) which comprises a small ball (18) in the channel which it opens or closes dependent upon the position of the swing lever on a cam of the camshaft.
