[origin: WO9409464A1] In an installation for reading out the consumption figures for various consumption quantities in a building, e.g. the heat consumption of heaters, in which the users are fitted with consumption meters (2), in order to automate meter (2) reading, there is a system for the radio transmission of the consumption figures recorded from the meters to a local receiving installation (1) in the building from which the read-out is made by transmission to a reading device (4) or transmission to a central processing installation (7). To facilitate radio transmission with the low power reserves of a battery-powered reading installation (2) over years of operating time, the radio transmissions are made unidirectionally in a narrow time band set by each reading installation (2) independently, on the set date for a given period.
