[origin: EP0665153A1] The brake block unit (1) is connected to the vehicle or bogie frame (5) at the upper end (12), so as to be pivoted about an axis (14) which is mainly parallel to the axis (13) of the associated wheel (2). On the level of the wheel axis, it is connected to the outer axle bearing housing (16), next to the wheel. This connection is via a coupling rod (15), which extends mainly at right angles to the wheel axis. The brake unit has a brake block holder (8), which is suspended via a suspension bracket (10). The bracket is pivotally connected to the vehicle/bogie frame about the same axis, as the brake unit.
