Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0665569A1] The differential circuit breaker trip unit (10) is coupled to a multi-polar circuit breaker to form a complete modular differential circuit breaker assembly. The trip unit is housed in an insulated enclosure (84). The enclosure houses a differential current detector formed by a summing transformer (28) in the form of a toroid traversed by the power conductors (38,40) that constitute the primary winding. A mechanism (16) activated by an electromagnetic relay (34) transmits the trip signal to the circuit breaker block, through mechanical trip lever. The relay is excited when the voltage at the secondary winding (42) of the summing transformer (28) passes a set threshold. The relay is activated through an electronic circuit (36).
