Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9505759A1] In the processing of sheet-type workpieces, in particular when adhesively bonding superposed elements together, the workpieces are fed to a continuously operating bonding device by feed conveyors which operate in conjunction with follow-on conveyors. Prior art methods and devices of this kind require the feed conveyor and the follow-on conveyor to be arranged in tandem. In order to avoid this limitation in the arrangement of the feed conveyor (1) and follow-on conveyor (2), the invention proposes that, when the feed conveyor (1) starts up with a workpiece (12) on its conveyor belt, the path of the conveyor belt is extended far enough over the conveyor belt of the follow-on conveyor (2) so that the workpiece (12) can be conveyed into a position in which it is entirely above the conveyor belt of the follow-on conveyor (2). When the workpiece (12) arrives in this position, the conveyor belt (3) of the feed conveyor (1) is stopped and the workpiece is placed on the conveyor belt (4) of the follow-on conveyor (2) by shortening the ppath of the conveyor belt (3) of the feed conveyor (1).
