Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9409410A1] A thermofixing arrangement for fixing toner images on a strip-shaped recording medium (17) of an electrophotographic printing or copying machine has a thermoprinting fixing station (11, 12) and a heated preheating saddle (15) arranged upstream of the thermoprinting fixing station in the direction of transport of the recording medium. The preheating saddle (15) is designed as a low temperature saddle which is as long as possible, so that the temperature difference between the recording medium (17) and the saddle surface (24) is as reduced as possible. It has several heating zones (21, 23) arranged in the direction of transport of the recording medium. A regulating arrangement regulates the heating zones (21, 23) in such a way that an approximately constant thermal energy flow is set along the preheating saddle (15) at the surface (24) of the saddle on the recording medium (17). In order to adapt the preheating saddle (15) to recording media having different widths, the preheating saddle is subdivided into individually controllable transverse heating zones (30/1 to 30/3) which extend across the direction of transport of the recording medium.
