[origin: EP0666117A1] A process for decontamination of items (1) with watertight surfaces esp. pillows entails their insertion into a wet cabin (2) for treatment with washing fluid followed by a rinse with ≥ two stage repetitions. At each repetition the relative item position is altered and then it is inserted into a cabin (3) for drying by gas-based means. The appts. for implementation of this process comprises the cabins, and in the wet cabin an item handling appts. as well as a turning appts.. The dry cabin adjoins the wet cabin and a conveyor appts. (11,13) is supplied for carriage of the items through both.
