Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0666128A2] The appts. for horizontal continuous casting of metals consists of a pouring unit, a chill mould and a casting transport mechanism mounted on a bridge structure which is pivotable about a horizontal axis oriented perpendicular to the casting direction. The pivot axis (10) is located within the bridge structure (6) on a level below the casting unit taking the form of a keep-warm furnace (1). The keep-warm furnace, the mould, (2) with an adjoining sec. cooling section (3) and the casting transport mechanism (4) is pivotable upwards from the casting position by means of a hydraulic cylinder (11) which is hinge-connected to the free end of the bridge structure.
