[origin: EP0666582A1] The safety switch device is enclosed in a housing (1). It has a ram (3) which is actuated by a key (2) inserted into the housing (1) and is axially movable. The ram (3) is in operative connection with an electric switch (4) which cuts off an electric machine. After each positioning of the ram (3), the switch (4) is switched on or off. The device also has an electromagnetic locking device (6). The key (2) can only be withdrawn from the housing (1) after this locking device (6) has been excited, since the locking device (6) blocks a ratchet wheel and the ram (3) linked to it. The ratchet wheel is movable by the ram (3) and can be fixed by means of a locking handle (8) connected to the locking device (6). The switch (4) is actuated by the ratchet.
