[origin: EP0667315A1] The overload safety method involves measuring the load (8) and the position of the trolley (5). The load torque is calculated from the product of the load and the unloading figure resulting from the trolley setting. The load torque is also measured directly and compared with the product arrived at. If the permissible load torque is exceeded or if the measured result differs from the calculated one by more than a set margin, a signal is given. The measurement of the load torque is done by measuring the deformation of at least one corner member of the jib tip (11) and/or the stress of the jib tension rope or rod.
