[origin: EP0667410A2] The roller has: (a) a rotating core, and (b) a surface tube surrounding the core. In the area of the surface pipe ends, pressure pads are located between an outer support ring mounted rotatingly in the surface tube and an inner support ring mounted on the core. The support rings are held in a torsion-resistant manner on flange rings (12) which are secured against turning. The core ends (14) extend through the flange openings of the flange rings (12) and are mounted outside the flange rings (12).
