[origin: DE4237597A1] New substituted benzimidazoles have the formula (I), in which R<1> stands for hydrogen, alkyl, alkylhalide, possibly substituted cycloalkyl or aryl; R<2> stands for hydrogen, alkyl, alkylhalide, possibly substituted cycloalkyl or aryl; R<3> stands for fluoroalkyl; X<1>, X<2>, X<3> and X<4> represent independently from each other hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, possibly substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl or cycloalkyl, condensed possibly substituted dioxyalkylene, hydroxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, cycloalkyloxycarbonyl, possibly substituted amino or aminocarbonyl, possibly substituted aryl, aryloxy arylthio, arylsulfinyl, arylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyloxy, arylcarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, arylazo or arylthiomethylsulfonyl. At least one of the substituents X<1>, X<2>, X<3> and X<4> is however different from hydrogen. The compounds 1-(N, N-diethylaminosulfonyl)-2-trifluoromethyl-4-nitro-6-trifluoromethyl-be nzimidazole, 1-(N,N-diethylaminosulfonyl)-2-trifluoromethyl-4-nitro-6-trifluorometh yl-benzimidazole and 1-[N,N-bis-(n-propyl)-aminosulfonyl]-2-trifluoromethyl-4-nitro-6-trifl uoromethyl-benzimidazole are excepted. Also disclosed are the preparation of these compounds and their use as pesticides.
