The field emitter micro-dot cathode mfr. involves etching the three upper layers forming the gate (6), an insulator (5) and a cathode resistive layer (3) together, according to a single pattern defining the gate rows and the cathode micro-point resistances. There are cathode conductors (2) formed in a column network on a support substrate. The resistive layer carries the cathode emitters. Pref. the cathode conductors are formed in a first masking step, and emitter holes are formed in deposited cathode resistive, insulator and gate conductor layers in a second masking step.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une cathode d'écran fluorescent à micropointes, comprenant une plaque support (1) revêtue de conducteurs de cathode en colonnes maillées (2), d'une couche résistive (3) portant des micropointes (4), d'une couche isolante (5) et d'une couche conductrice de grille en lignes (6). Les trois couches supérieures de grille (6), isolante (5) et résistive (3), sont gravées ensemble selon un motif unique ajouré définissant à la fois les lignes de grille et les résistances d'accès aux micropointes (4) par ladite couche résistive. <IMAGE>
